Sean Webley is a visual artist and filmmaker who has shown work in major international film festivals including SXSW, Austin Film Festival, DOCNYC, Brooklyn Film Festival, Santa Barbara Film Festival, and many others. His artwork has been shown in museums and galleries internationally, including the Guggenheim Bilbao.
Sean Webley is a visual artist and filmmaker whose work moves between cinema, photography, experimental form, and installation. His films have screened at major international festivals, including SXSW, DOC NYC, the Austin Film Festival, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the Vancouver International Film Festival, and the Brooklyn Film Festival, where he received the Experimental Spirit Award and Best Experimental Film for his project Beef. Most recently, his documentary Seconds Away premiered at the Austin Film Festival, and his nonfiction film The Voyage Out premiered at DOC NYC.
Webley’s visual art has been exhibited internationally in galleries, museums, and installation spaces, including at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. His practice often explores memory, identity, image-making, and the boundary between truth and aesthetic construction.
In addition to his independent artistic work, Webley is the founder and creative director of Primitive Collective, a studio that merges art, cinema, and branding through high-end visual storytelling. His commercial and collaborative projects have garnered millions of views, been featured in AdWeek and Forbes, and earned recognition for their fusion of craft, design, and emotional resonance.
Webley holds an MFA from Columbia University.
